David Shakes – Trees, Landscapes and the Backs of People’s Heads exhibition.
David Shakes is a writer, artist and beer lover (not necessarily in that order) who has been creating digital content since 2013. He is 45 and lives in Solihull with his long-suffering wife and teenage children. The title of his exhibition ‘Trees, Landscapes and the Backs of People’s Heads’ not only perfectly encapsulates his subject matter, but was part of a derogatory comment in the early days of his online presence. He now uses it with pride – as you will see in his Twitter bio @TheShakes72.
David’s writing and photography share similar themes – a fascination with (metaphorical) darkness and a heightening of specific themes or elements- not quite abstract, but enhancement or exaggeration. Symmetry too plays a large part in his artwork. The exhibition will be at the Gunmakers Arms from 12th – 31st March 2018.
This is David’s debut exhibition in the real world.
David is delivering a talk on his work on 19th March. Book your free ticket to guarantee your place.
