Russian conductor Vasily Petrenko’s powerful performances since taking the reins as Chief Conductor of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra in 2013 have attracted both critical and popular acclaim. 

For their return to Birmingham, they are joined by pianist Nikolai Lugansky for Grieg’s heroic piano concerto. Sibelius’ Fifth Symphony, with its Horn-led evocation of swans in flight, concludes the programme.

Pre-concert conversation at 6:15pm with Alexander Taylor (Head of Artistic Planning, Oslo Philharmonic).
This conversation will be signed by a British Sign Language interpreter.
