In 2009, Kim Charnock and Lorna Meehan established RoguePlay, and together they have spent twelve years developing the company from a small two hander into a thriving touring organisation. Working internationally, RoguePlay have an impressive history of touring shows and collaborations with companies such as Nofit State, Panasonic and Gravity & Levity.
Kim is an experienced Circus and Physical Theatre Director, whose work consistently investigates the combination of aerial movement, acting technique and textual narrative. Kim directs and choreographs the physicality that takes the narrative from the horizontal to the vertical.
Lorna is an acclaimed Performance Poet and Solo Theatre Maker, writing much of the spoken word that form RoguePlay’s distinctive storytelling style. By combining poetic narratives with circus arts they explore personal yet universal stories that embrace change.
Their own personal histories inspire them to talk about difficult subjects that challenge social conditioning. They are passionate about discussing mental and sexual well being, motherhood and overcoming trauma, to promote female solidarity, inclusivity and a positive image of women.
Their trademark highly physical theatre style ultimately inspires joy, excitement and passion about the world, encouraging everyone to unlock their potential to be healthier, happier and more creative.
