Join us as we celebrate two decades of amazing music and culture that brought us greats like Goodness Gracious Me and Bend It Like Beckham! The 90s + 00’s saw the rise of Bhangra bands like Alaap, Apna Sangeet and Heera and the emergence of Panjabi MC, Jay-Z’s hit single ‘Beware of the Boys’, as well as Malkit Singh and Stereo Nation. It was a time when the scene was dominated by British South Asian culture – a time when many of the biggest names in hip-hop and bhangra were coming together in perfect harmony. Legends like Truth Hurts, Raki, Erick Sermon, Redman, and Kanye West were all-embracing Bollywood, while home-grown stars like RDB, Dr Zeus, B21, Tigerstyle, Juttla, Surinder Rattan, Metz and Trix were releasing some of the most iconic anthems of the time. British Asian artists like Bally Sagoo, Cornershop, Apache Indian and The Rishi Rich Project featuring Jay Sean and Juggy D were also dominating the UK charts. Topping it off, Wolverhampton-born Jas Mann’s ‘Spaceman’ hit the number one spot in the UK Singles Chart. It was indeed a year of cultural fusion and one that will never be forgotten.

It was also the year of The Asian Underground; Talvin Singh, Joi, Nitin Sawhney, State of Bengal, M.I.A, UK Apache, Basmarsh and Shri were making waves and pushing boundaries as they crossed over into the mainstream, signing to big-time records labels. This was a time when Madonna donned Henna, Gwen Stefani rocked a bindi and East is East introduced us to a new catchphrase: “You bloody bastar£%!!!!” It was the year when East met West and the world of music was forever changed.

Get ready to blast off into the past at Massi’s Yard Brunch! This unique celebration will take you back to the ’90s and early 2000s with a mix of classic Bollywood, Bhangra, Desi Beats, RNB and Hip Hop tunes. – Dress Code: No trackies, hoodies, caps, sportswear, or manbags. Trainers are allowed. An effort will be required.

This will be a fruity pineapple, orange, lime, dark rum and light rum punch. This cannot be exchanged for a drink of your choice.
