The Lost Children Exhibition tells the story of the Middlemore Homes, that helped emigrate over 6,000 children from the streets of Birmingham (and around the country) to rural Canada from 1873 to 1948. The future lives of these children varied enormously – there are tales of happiness as well as tales of great sadness.
In this interactive exhibition you’ll be able to ‘choose your child’ and follow their remarkable family journey from the slum streets of Birmingham to the backwoods of Canada. You will learn all about the Homes, the children and this fascinating (yet not very well known) area of Birmingham’s history.
Runs daily from 10 am to 4pm from 14th-22nd September 2019, is free of charge and suitable for families. There are various Talks and Dramatic Lectures that are also free of charge. This exhibition is a year in the making and proudly presented by the Balsall Heath Local History Society
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to discover this amazing and fascinating aspect of Birmingham’s heritage.
